Today we’re bringing you for a FULL ON street food tour of Kota Bharu, Kelantan!
Get ready for some INCREDIBLE STREET FOOD in Malaysia!!

Today, I’m (Trevor James, The Food Ranger) traveling along with my wife Ting and bringing you in for a FULL ON street food tour of Kota Bharu in Kelantan!

Today we’re bringing you in for 4 incredible street foods! And first up, we’re stopping for the ULTIMATE delicacy of Kelantan, the Nasi Kerabu!! This is an incredibly aromatic blue rice dish served with a local salad and tons of sambal and mixed dishes! Cooked with the pea flower, the rice turns blue!!!

After this , we’re bringing you in to the most famous local street food market in the city! Here, you can find tons of tropical ingredients, spices, and of course Malaysian street food! We were exploring and found on the second floor a GIANT Malay food center full of Kelantanese Delicacies and Malay curry!! We stopped at a random one and enjoyed the most delicious Laksam kelantan style made with sardine broth and plump rice noodle rolls!!!

And then after before our huge evening feast at a local village home, we’re stopping on the side of the street and bringing you for a famous Malaysian street food in Kota Bharu, the AKOK! So delicious! This local pancake is made with hundreds of eggs, gula melaka palm sugar INFUSED with pandan local Malaysian vanilla leaves, and flour! It’s so fluffy and gooey and delicious!!!

And to finish up the night, we’re bringing you for another FAMOUS street food in Malaysia and Kelantan, the Nasi Tumpang STUFFED banana leaf CONE!! This is super unique and a must try when visiting Kelantan!!! All of the food in this video is part of the reason why I love Malaysian food and I think that Malaysian food is the best Southeast Asian food!!! You need to try all of these Malaysian curry dishes!!!!

    Akok is quite hard to make i think. i live in Kedah. its very hard to find authentic akok here. they usually sell it on Ramadhan. but still not the same as we get in kelantan. here its taste like sweet omelete. omelete with sugar. imagine that.

    do you know that demand for food from kelantan is high among affluent Kelantanese in KL that there are businesses that fly food from Kelantan to Kl via domestic airlines. Kelantan is only 1-2 hours away by flight.

    Gula melaka is coconut sugar.Palm sugar and coconut sugar are two different types. Coconut sugar comes from the buds of coconut tree flowers and palm sugar is made from the sap of the sugar palm tree (also called a date palm tree).
