Sheena, you are supposed to spit out those tamarind seed. And BTW, it was the steam rice cake with coconut and jackfruit/palm fruit. Its a type of dessert. It's not called amok. Amok is rather a savory dish. First time watching Yr vdo. U both did a fantastic job. So lively and real. Keep it up!

This make me miss my hometown (seriously, I mean the food😋) there are some unique foods that I can’t find out off Battambang. I haven’t been there almost a year and I suppose to go this April but because of the virus I have to stay home. By the way thank for visiting my country 😊. Anyway I miss the breakfast at school with my friends.

Everyday Life on June 6, 2020

Hi, nice to see both in Battambang. I miss those foods. The last one that you had, it is called Nom Achoa Tanoat. It is made from rice flour, palm fruit, palm guar/sugar, coconut milk on top, teamed in banana leaf. Some sellers they also add jack fruits

Van Khoth on June 20, 2020

What you got at the end of this clip was a palm fruit rice cake with coconut milk on top/not jackfruit rice cake. I lived in that Battambang Province during the Killing Fields. I went there last year on December 26th-27th, just only for two days. I wished I could stay longer. I love street foods there. Next time, I will try eating rat meats!

Giles Ramsay on June 28, 2020

Ah, you make me nostalgic: Battambang is my 'home' – but I got a job in China a couple of years ago, and haven't been able to get back very much. The school food market does one of the best bai sach chrouk I've had anywhere in Cambodia.

I've never heard of the jackfruit amok. Did you manage to find it eventually? (You shame me with the effectiveness of your research! I live just a few minutes away from the Boeung Chhouk market, but you seem to know more about its treasures than I do.)

Thanks for filming and liking of cambodian foods. I must admit that the hygiene is sth needed to improve. Even a cambodian like me, eating foods like this might cause gastroenteritis from times to times, lol.

ive only been back with high rollers and corrupt govt officials, you showed me parts of the culture i never got to see. It's just amazing how the atmosphere seems so family like. Hard to explain, especially how they tried to get you included in cooking the deserts just for fun, it's not that they were trying to put you to work, they saw your curiosity and were like, don't be shy, have a go.
